The star of the newest Pokémon: Legends Z-A trailer was, without a doubt, Mega Dragonite. However, Kanto's pseudo-Legendary isn't the only one back with a major glow-up.
One of the many characters set to aid us on our latest romp through the France-inspired Kalos region is Mable, Director of the Pokémon Research Lab. The trailer presents Mable as a newcomer, but she's no stranger to long-time Pokémon fans: she used to be a high-ranking member of Team Flare, the big bads of Pokémon X and Y.
Pokemon: Legend Z-A's Mable used to be a Team Flare scientist

Honestly, it's hard to fault Pokémon fans who didn't recognize Mable right away. Team Flare may have been the villains of Pokémon's first outing on the Nintendo 3DS, but they didn't leave the best impression. Led by the fiery-haired Lysandre, Team Flare saw themselves as the last bastion of beauty in a world drowning in filth. The organization's not-at-all insane solution to this dilemma was simple: resurrect an ancient superweapon, wipe out civilization, and build a beautiful utopia on the ashes of the old world.
Luckily for Mable, Kalos' judicial system has no reservations about giving people who tried to destroy the world a second chance. As of Legends Z-A, Mable is officially jiving, sitting pretty as the head of a prominent research institution in a decked-out gamer seat proudly baring a blue variant of Team Flare's wispy logo. Heck, according to the official Pokémon: Legends Z-A website, she'll be the one handing out most of the game's Mega Stones and TMs, so players have a good reason to forgive her past transgressions as well.
While Mable is the only returning member of Team Flare featured in the new trailer, she's not the only Team Flare-related character coming back in Legends: Z-A. AZ, the overgrown owner of Hotel Z, was the focal point of Team Flare's schemes, since it turned out he was the one who built the weapon at the heart of their scheme. Emma, the detective who hands out your side quests, was also a victim of Team Flare's skullduggery.
It's too early to say anything for sure, but it's hard to believe that all these references to Team Flare are making it into Legends Z-A by accident. With rampaging Mega-Evolved Pokémon set to play a role in Legend Z-A's story and one of the team's former members casually tossing out Mega Stones left and right, the stage is set for Team Flare to make its fabulous return.
