Best LeBron James build in NBA 2K26

Image
LeBron James has been my favorite baller of all time, and there are some terrific builds you can model after him in NBA 2K26 's MyCareer. Any LeBron James build has several strengths that are suitable for beginners and veterans. His builds are pretty well-balanced , shining in both offensive and defensive departments. Here's one of the builds that I have been trying out in early access, and it's certainly getting me the results. Best LeBron James build for NBA 2K26 MyCareer mode The LeBron James template is simply not good enough. It's a good starting point for beginners, but has its limitations. The base Steal rating is awful and doesn't do him any justice. Instead, this is a build that I have been fine-tuning in the first couple of days, making my character feel and play like prime LeBron on the court. Position: Small Forward Height: 6'8" Weight: 237 lbs Wingspan: 7'1" LeBron certainly has the height to play as a PF, but I opted ...

Valve does nothing and wins, again, as Escape From Tarkov caves and announces Steam relase

Image
Lord Gaben's mercy is again requested by a weary publisher, who is eager to bring its games into Valve's digital store. This time, it's Escape From Tarkov , a game which previously only ran within its own client. The release date is TBA, but at least we know it's coming. After previously teasing a potential Steam release, Tarkov developer and Battlestate Games chief Nikita Buyanov confirmed via X that the popular (and controversial) extraction shooter is coming to Gabe's virtual kingdom. Buyanov did not specify a release date, but since Tarkov is getting its 1.0 release on Nov. 15, it could possibly coincide with that date. Nothing is certain yet, however, but it's good to know the game is finally moving to a more approachable storefront. Escape From Tarkov is a realistic, gritty, first-person extraction shooter with perma-death. Image via BSG Escape From Tarkov could previously only be purchased and played via the game's own client, much akin to...

ConcernedApe announces Stardew Valley 1.7 and fans immediately fill the void with hype and speculation

Image
Yes, you heard that right, we're getting another Stardew Valley update. It's been over a year since 1.6 was released, and now, we have official word that 1.7 is coming—eventually. ConcernedApe revealed the existence of another update during Stardew Valley's Festival of Seasons concert tour on Aug. 29. Just a day later, he confirmed once again that, yes, we'll have another one at some point in the future. There's currently no release date or list of expected features out in the open, but this alone is enough to build up some hype. https://twitter.com/ConcernedApe/status/1961864959484412104 During 1.6, Ape introduced several new festivals, winter outfits, the Meadowlands Farm type, and more. Since the update included a range of early-game and end-game content, 1.7 will likely do the same. It was a hefty update full of new items and other secrets, raising an important question: how big will 1.7 truly be? The potential for this update goes all over the place, ...

Hollow Knight: Silksong’s leaked price seems too good to be true

Image
What's arguably this year's most anticipated title, and one just about to launch, is going to cost only $19.99. We're talking, of course, about Hollow Knight: Silksong , which, if a GameStop leak is to be believed, is going to be cheaper even than most indies and AA games. As per a Reddit user who first spotted the seemingly accidental GameStop listing for Hollow Knight: Silksong , Team Cherry's new Metroidvania is going to cost $19.99, which is far below what most indies and AA titles are selling for nowadays. GameStop appears to have since removed the listing, which the user indicates could have been a placeholder (they even tried putting the game in their basket, but were given an error). Given how hyped Silksong  is, it's somewha t unbelievable to see it listed for such a low price. It's the most anticipated game of 2025, and is bound to sell over 10 million copies total, if not more. Thus, from a business POV, it seems like a ludicrous thing to do. S...

If you’re looking to scratch that cRPG itch, these are the ones you should definitely try

Image
Computer role-playing games, better known as cRPGs, are a staple genre in the PC gaming world. With strong narratives, deep dialogues, and oftentimes strong philosophical themes, titles of this kind are fantastic story-driven experiences that modern RPGs can seldom replicate. Though we've all heard of all the best cRPGs over the years, from Fallout 2 to Divinity: Original Sin , to even Baldur's Gate 3 as the most modern (and best) of them all, I'd like to point out some games from the turn of the century that you might have missed (or have simply not touched in a very long time). Table of contents The best cRPGs to quench your thirst for amazing stories Planescape: Torment Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 The best cRPGs to quench your thirst for amazing stories I've tried to select games that aren't all too popular or talked about in the current zeitgeist, moving my focus awa...

This twice-bombed card battler somehow survived to rank 13th in Steam players today

Image
If you told me one of the most-played Steam games today is the ninth-worst-rated on the platform, I wouldn't believe you. There are two reasons why this free card game, Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond ( SVWB ), got to a 72% negative review score and why it temporarily bounced back. On Aug. 28, over 92,000 players were on Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond in the early morning, a number that dropped by half five hours later, according to Steamcharts . This player count is still significantly higher than the average 29,000 players the game saw in July, or the 17,700 average of the last 30 days. Today's numbers made SVWB the 13th most-played game on Steam on Aug. 28, though it has now dropped to 16th—and will probably continue dropping. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prCyDNLsiTI Ranking so high is a special feat for a game so poorly rated. SVWB not only has 72% overall negative reviews on Steam, but 86% negative in the last 30 days. While the graph for the game's reviews shows ...

Silksong exists, and so does the original Hollow Knight’s new all-time player record

Image
Hollow Knight: Silksong is on its way to finally launching on Sept. 4. And just like revealing God's existence would spawn a billion believers, so did Silksong produce Hollow Knight 's new all-time player record. Peaking at 52,208 players today, according to SteamDB , Hollow Knight has broken its own all-time player record, fueled no doubt by waves of players galvanized by Silksong 's looming release date. With only about a week left before this highly anticipated sequel hits the imaginary digital shelves of Steam and other platforms, the 2017  Hollow Knight  enjoys unprecedented attention and player engagement, proving just how hyped the little caped ghost man truly is. Hollow Knight is one of the most popular metroidvanias ever made. This niche JRPG franchise is quietly becoming my favorite thanks to peak acting and animation

Image
When I first played Granblue Fantasy Relink , a spinoff of the browser gacha game Granblue Fantasy , the last thing I expected was to become a fan. I couldn't see how a JRPG franchise born from this 2014 gacha could deliver a great action RPG title 10 years later, but it did. Now, I've played a third GBF game that made me finally realize why the franchise turned into one of my favorites. It's all Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising 's fault. It's a fighting game with a story mode with amazing English VA. The voices of Gran, Katalina, Lancelot, and other human characters perfectly match their spirits and actions as the story develops. Katalina's voice in the early chapter differs when she's influenced by the black crystal's powers and when she's back to normal and having a chat in a safe area with other characters. The voice of Vyrn, a small flying lizard-like companion, is funny, high-pitched, and reminds me of cute anime creatures like Cerberus from...

I can’t wait to pretend I’ve finished Silksong, just like I do with Hollow Knight

Image
Hollow Knight is a fun game, but I have to admit I never finished it. And honestly, I wish I had, because now, when I see my save file with 20 hours of gameplay, I have no idea where I have to go. No clue. I don't even remember how to play the game because it's been more than a year since I dropped it. There's no point in trying to move forward from where I am because I will probably take another 20 hours to figure it out. I don't remember the mechanics, I don't remember the map, I don't remember anything. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XGeJwsUP9c Now the sequel,  Silksong,  is around the corner. Why should I restart the original now? I can instead start playing Silksong next week and never finish it, just like I did with Hollow Knight . It's probably much more fun than replaying the first entry, right? Jokes aside, I feel like Silksong and Hollow Knight are the kinds of game experiences we maybe don't have to finish to enjoy. Sure, they a...

Black Ops 7 Carry Forward, explained – What content transfers from BO6 to BO7?

Image
A new Call of Duty game is on the horizon yet again, and it's another direct sequel to the previous title. Black Ops 7 will launch on Nov. 14, 2025, and Black Ops 6 players are eager to know what kind of content will be moving to the new game as party of the Carry Forward system that Call of Duty has been using of late. Here's everything there is to know about BO7 Carry Forward . Black Ops 7 Carry Forward Image via Activision What is Carry Forward in BO7? Traditionally, CoD games have all been independent from each other. But in recent years, the Carry Forward program allowed certain content to transfer between titles, such as Modern Warfare II operators and unlocks being playable in Modern Warfare III in 2022 and 2023, respectively. They have also been usable in Warzone, as well. Black Ops 6 to Black Ops 7 will have a similar Carry Forward program, but with some specific restrictions. What BO6 content transfers to BO7? All EA FC 26 player and club ratings (leaks)

Image
The release of EA FC 26 is still a few weeks away, but the first set of player rating leaks has started to pop up on social media. With the end of the closed beta, EA Sports is expected to start revealing official player and club stats. However, a few leaks seem to be doing that job for now. While I am highly skeptical about how "authentic" these ratings are, I won't rule them out either. Having played the beta and watched others play, some of the leaked ratings are different. While they can always be personal predictions, you should take the rumors with a grain of salt (until EA Sports officially reveals the numbers for this year). All EA FC 26 player ratings leaks Last year, the leaks for EA FC 25 player ratings began right after the closed beta had ended. The trend appears to be the same, but the leaks are almost exclusive to the Premier League (either for current players or for names who have left in the ongoing summer transfer window). My childhood’s biggest gaming fever dream is real—even if Nintendo wishes it wasn’t

Image
I was just an innocent child when my dad got me a bunch of PlayStation 1 games that included Pokémon . While I could've guessed it was a bootleg game as soon as I saw it, I knew back in the early 2000s there were Pokémon games for home consoles, despite having only played portable titles like Pokémon Red and Crystal . Maybe it was a real game like Pokémon Stadium? But it wasn't. I remember that the PS1 disc stayed in my console just long enough to leave an eternal mark in my memory, that of a trash whack-a-mole Pokémon game so cursed its developers should be in jail not for copyright infringement, but for creative crime. I played it for such a short time that until today, over 20 years later, I was sure it was just a fever dream and that I had never played this monstrosity. Until I finally found Pokémon Crazy Hit 2 . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqhPvZlVZ4I The game's video footage is exactly as I recall when I played it: no music, no catching or combat, and no...

Iizuka explains how Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds DLC guest characters were chosen and why they don’t have voices

Image
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is looking to tear a rift into different locations when it drops later this fall, featuring fun gadgets and crossover characters galore. Sporting the new CrossWorlds feature, racing tracks in the game will have ring portals that will change the environment completely, basically turning each track into three-in-one in certain situations, making for a daring new take on the genre. This past week at gamescom, Destructoid sat down with the head of all things Sonic Team, Takashi Iizuka , to discuss the upcoming game's crossover characters and why some of them seem to be mute in-game. Note : Parts of this interview were edited to avoid repetition and allow for better text clarity . Recent movies prove horror cinema is alive, but success might spell the genre’s demise (again)

Image
The reception of Sinners, Weapons, Together, and Bring Her Back shows that audiences would still much prefer to get their scares at the theater than at home. These excellent and original works from 2025 prove horror currently reigns supreme, though that might actually work to its detriment—again. The upcoming Resident Evil movie will put Hollywood to the test The success of Barbarian and the expected success of Weapons earned director Zach Cregger the chance to direct the upcoming Resident Evil movie adaptation. Despite a mainline game series that never let Capcom down saleswise, the Resident Evil movies are currently one hell of a minefield to navigate, especially for a director with such a unique voice. Even without mentioning the absolutely bizarre series of animated Resident Evil movies , the live-action movies have always been a strange affair. That's been even more noticeable recently, when Resident Evil suffered both a terrible movie reboot and a baffling Netfl...
