What is the leave penalty in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Image
Elden Ring Nightreign is plenty of fun when played with your friends or random strangers, but deserting your team early will result in some serious penalties. Things can quickly get pretty difficult on an Expedition, especially if you don't focus on the basics. As a result, your Expeditions can quickly propel you in a direction different from your imagination, but that doesn't mean that you can simply rage quit. You can do so if you want, but it will attract penalties. Elden Ring Nightreign leave penalty explained You'll be hit with a matchmaking penalty every time you leave an Expedition early. This penalty will prevent you from joining a new Expedition immediately, as you'll have to wait for the cooldown to be over. If you experience a technical glitch/crash, you won't be hit with an immediate penalty. In fact, you'll be given a warning before heading back to the Roundtable Hold. Any items and rewards obtained on your run will be automatically forfeited...

Marvel Rivals’ latest update has everyone flying high—except tank players, but what else is new?

Image
Marvel Rivals seems to have an air traffic control problem at the onset of its season 2.5 update today, and it's once again left Vanguard players in the lurch. I've played about a dozen matches of Marvel Rivals today and the lobbies have been plagued with the newest hero Ultron (as you'd expect), but other flyers like Iron Man, Storm, and Human Torch, turning the game into a nightmare for tank players as there is little they can do to counter this kind of team composition. Screenshot by Destructoid Some of the frequent flying probably has to do with the fact that there are in-game event missions for both Ultron and Iron Man right now, so things should shake out and normalize over time. But if you hop on the game this weekend, be prepared to be looking up a lot. "Tank mains are screwed," one user wrote . "Solo tanking is going to be more common since people want to go triple support, and there's flying heroes all over the place. We're going t...

My most nostalgic game is a colony sim from two decades ago—how does it hold up today?

Image
Nostalgia can take many forms for different people. For you, it may look like your first experience in an arcade, picking up a copy of The Legend of Zelda for the NES in the 80s, or trying out Diablo 1 in the late 90s. For me, it's playing colony sims and cooking games from the early 2000s. While my first-ever video game was Heroes of Might and Magic 3 , the most nostalgic is a colony sim that, although simple by today's standards, was surprisingly difficult for its time. At least for a young child, that is. Let me tell you all about Virtual Villagers , a game series I grew up with in my formative years and only just recently learned is still ongoing. Image via Last Day of Work For those uninitiated, Virtual Villagers is a casual colony simulation game series where you, an almighty deity-like being, watch over and care for a group of villagers. Your villagers start by training their basic survival skills, from foraging berries to building huts and researching new tech...

Xbox packs Game Pass with 50 retro classics—these are the ones you should try first

Image
Xbox Game Pass just got updated with 50 retro titles hailing from the dawn of gaming. Many awesome and memorable games that inaugurated the gaming industry as a whole are there, and, out of the bunch, more than a few stand out. So, here's what you should focus on. 50 games at the push of a button Before I get into listing out the highlights, I really want you to consider taking these old games for a spin. All 50 come together at the push of a button and at just about 85 megabytes, which is a far cry from the game sizes we've unfortunately become used to in recent years. There are games from the old, old Activision, made for the Atari 2600, PSX, Amiga, the SNES, and others. You can relive a day and age where things were much simpler, and if you're a tad younger, finally understand that the older folk weren't raving when they spoke of "how gaming used to be." And now for the showreel. 5. Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist The DOS system introduced many...

We asked Toby Fox for some indie game recommendations—and he did not disappoint

Image
It's not every day you get to talk to someone as well-known and liked in the indie scene like Toby Fox, but thanks to some wizardry and a sprinkle of luck, we managed to ask Toby a couple of questions recently ahead of the release of Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 on June 5. Toby was to the point with his answers, especially in one area where we were keen to find out more information on, with that, of course, being Indie games. More importantly, some of his favorite indie games that were recently released or are coming out soon, and he did not disappoint. But instead of keeping some of those suggestions to ourselves, we thought we would share with you his shout-outs and decisions, so you can go out there and try them for yourselves to see if they match your tastes! So, without further ado, let us begin. Apple is reportedly launching its own dedicated gaming app this year, but who really needs it?

Image
Here we go again. Apple is ready to get hardcore into gaming once more, reportedly this time with a dedicated app for games and gamers built-in to its devices like the iPhone and iPads later this year. A new report from Bloomberg cites "people with knowledge of the matter" that Apple will begin to preinstall the app on its devices, including the Apple TV set-top box, in 2025 and an announcement of the new addition is imminent to coincide with next week's launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. With the move, Apple is "seeking to sell gamers and developers on the idea that it’s a leader in the market." https://twitter.com/business/status/1927451003256774896 "The software will serve as a launcher for titles and centralize in-game achievements, leaderboards, communications and other activity, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans haven't been announced," Bloomberg said. Switch 2 consoles are in the wild, but day one update locks console until launch

Image
The Nintendo Switch 2's release date is approaching quickly, with just over a week left until it hits storefronts and arrives in the pockets of anyone who preordered the console. But that hasn't stopped a leaked version from surfacing, with an early unboxing video briefly showcasing it. A seven-second clip, uploaded to YouTube before being swiftly taken down through copyright strikes, highlights the Nintendo Switch 2, boxed and packaged, with its noticeably larger screen and Joy-Con mouse hybrids included . But it doesn't dive into its functionality and performance for one important reason—it's impossible to play on the console until launch. https://twitter.com/Wario64/status/1927439153144160682 As the uploader mentions in a comment within the video, the Switch 2 is currently locked, preventing it from being used altogether. Using it requires an update to gain full functionality, which is likely to prevent early copies from being used before the console's rel...

Do you think the Switch 2 will ‘flop’? Or outsell the original?

Image
I know. I know. It is a weird topic to have, but we need to have an honest debate about the Nintendo Switch 2 and, more so, how we think it'll perform. Despite original fanfare during the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal, since then, there has been a lot of discourse around the console for varied reasons. Where its the debate on $80 games being the new norm, the controversial game key cards that are physical games but not physical games, or the rumors circulating that Nintendo can brick your console anytime it wants, there's a lot of negative press around what should have been an exciting time for new hardware. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9flte56erE8&ab_channel=NintendoofAmerica I also must admit that my title was a bit over the top for this one. But onto the main topic at hand, do you expect the Nintendo Switch 2 to do well, flop, or even surpass Switch 1 lifetime sales? It's an interesting topic, as while I did use flop, I don't expect it to go down the route o...

Banjo-Kazooie Nostalgia 64 is a love letter to retro gaming

Image
As a major Banjo-Kazooie fan, I can't believe it took me nearly a whole month to learn of the existence of this modded fangame based around the bear and bird. By all accounts, it might as well be a spiritual new Banjo-Kazooie game dripping with nostalgia goodness. Banjo-Kazooie Nostalgia 64 is a modded version of Banjo-Kazooie that has you play as Banjo and Kazooie throughout classic worlds with a twist. These worlds are all based on other Nintendo 64 properties, from Super Mario 64 to Pokémon Stadium and beyond, with 1,000 notes to find, Jiggies to discover, and a wealth of gameplay you can only dream of. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNnq1ioYZy4 The fangame has been in development since 2024 and uses mostly assets of older Nintendo 64 games, with some extra features. I don't want to delve more into the game and reveal too much for those other classic retro lovers out there, but it's one of those games that needs to be viewed and experienced with little cont...

How to get rid of a criminal record in BitLife

Image
BitLife lets you do almost anything with your characters' lives, from starting businesses to pursuing dream jobs. Sometimes, though, your characters will dive into lives of crime for challenges, advancing through the mafia's ranks, or for fun. However, this comes with one main downside: criminal records. Committing crimes in BitLife automatically sends your character to jail. The criminal record that follows prevents you from adopting pets, pursuing jobs, or sometimes emigrating to other countries. While the usual solution is not committing crimes, challenges often force it upon you, leading to creative solutions for clearing your record.
