Resident Evil Requiem seems to be following in RE2 Remake’s footsteps, new footage shows

Resident Evil: Requiem is one of the most anticipated horror titles at the moment, and is set to launch early next year. However, we haven't seen much gameplay of it as of yet, but a recent documentary aired in Japan has now changed that.
In a brief section of the documentary dealing with RE9's development, which aired on NHK on Nov. 29, we got to see an early snippet of gameplay following the game's protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, as she fights zombies in a ruined Raccoon Police Department building. The gameplay and camera angle are very reminiscent of the RE remakes we've been getting for the past few years, much more so than recent new RE games like 7 or Village.
The shooting seems more punchy, slow, and methodical, which significantly amplifies the tension and realism of the scene. Capcom did remark this year how RE9's protagonist is by no means a superhero, but quite the contrary, and these more tense and "grounded" moments are likely means to achieve that feel.
What's also curious is the switching between first- and third-person perspectives, allowing players to experience the game however they see fit. Capcom confirmed these options would be offered at game start, though it seems players will be able to swap between them. The shooting in the clip is from the third-person, which would add to the RE remake vibes, but I wager the whole game is looking back for inspiration more so than recent outputs.
There's not much gore or gruesomeness in the scene, which Dusk Blood, a reputable Resident Evil leaker, says is likely due to local Japanese censorship. RE games, as he says, come out in two versions, one censored and one not, with the scenes here appearing to be of the former kind.
Still, we can likely expect a lot of horrifying moments in RE9, as the previous games certainly didn't lack them, especially in the case of RE7.
The Game Awards is coming up on Dec. 11, and we'll probably get to see more of RE9 directly from Capcom, but the scene above does inspire hope that we're in for one hell of a game.
