Highguard’s second update in as many days brings much-needed optimization, teases 5-vs-5 mode

It's no secret Highguard faces an uphill battle after a debut marred with disappointment after a lackluster Game Awards trailer, but the devs at Wildlight Entertainment are up to the task.
After debuting on Monday to a lukewarm reception along with review-bombing due to performance issues on PC and other gripes, Highguard now holds a "Mixed" review rating on Steam when it comes to English reviews.
The game's first post-launch update yesterday added some nice quality-of-life changes like FOV options on console, and now a new update for the free-to-play raid shooter just went live and is available now on both console and PC.
This Friday update includes some optimization for performance problems on PC, and some other interesting additions. Check out everything we know about the update below.
Highguard patch notes today - Jan. 30
Patch notes are incoming, but one of the main changes on console is that there are options for Motion Blur and Anisotropic Materials, but the biggest change may be with the game's party size.
On the top right of the lobby screen, there are now four slots for teammates, meaning a five-vs-five mode could be coming. For now, players are still digging into the update while waiting for the full patch notes to be released.
Meanwhile, players on PC are reporting much improved performance thus far after the update.
