It's all about Hollow Knight: Silksong, baby, in this week's edition of Whatcha Playing here at Destructoid, and it appears the wait has been worth it.
The indie MetroidVania has taken over Steam and the general gaming lexicon after its release yesterday, and early returns are that the hype is deserved. I have the original Hollow Knight in my neverending backlog so I won't be playing the spin-off/sequel this weekend, and so my curiosity is piqued.

I'll be filling in for normal "Whatcha" writer Andrej Barovic this weekend as my PC is currently on the fritz so I am limited in my Destructoid capabilities for the time being. And so, I am here to poll the audience of dear readers: whatcha playing this weekend?
Here at Destructoid, it's a bit of a grass-touching weekend for me since my PC is currently and unfortunately in the shop. I'm hoping it's an easy and cheap fix, because, well, I need it to for my job! Other than that, I will be delving into my consoles and maybe Steam Deck for the weekend. The Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls closed beta is in my PS5 library and ready to go, so I will be dabbling in that and hoping for some Marvel vs. Capcom vibes, while also playing with my dogs as much as I can.
Fellow writer Kacee Fay will be still diving into Tiny Bookshop, which they have "been absolutely obsessed with." She added, "it’s kind of bad because it has actual books in it so I keep finding books that sound interesting and adding them to my already way-too-long to-read pile."
Mr. Barovic, meanwhile, will be taking some of the time freed up by me stealing their weekly work to play World of Tanks, the Anno 117 demo, Rise of Nations, and Hell is Us, so it appears all of my lost gaming hours will be going to him instead.
Editor Luci Kelemen says they will be mixing in their editing duties with "some Super Meat Boy and Heroes of Might and V mixed in maybe," along with chess, as usual. I get the feeling that chess to Luci is what Marvel Snap is to me. And finally, assigning editor Adam Newell will be digging in to a new LEGO One Piece set, which looks quite fun.

Whether you're Silksong-ing it up, playing something different, or taking a break from games to enjoy the last bit of summer, make sure to let us know in the comments below how you'll be spending your weekend, dear reader.
