Warframe is changing its dreaded new game mode after only a day, and it finally seems alright

Seeing Warframe miss is more difficult than getting a Legendary Core. The Follie's Hunt game mode released yesterday was a rare case of that happening, but developer Digital Extremes already set out a list of fixes for the controversial new game mode, coming in future updates.
Developer Digital Extremes shared some of the upcoming changes to the game mode, touching upon several pain points. Follie, the game's main antagonist, will no longer be invincible; instead, Tenno can fend her off with enough damage, getting some breathing room. Multiple Follies can overwhelm the player, especially in the winding halls of the abandoned Vesper Relay, so this provides some agency by letting you fight back.
Additionally, Atramentum pickups will now be shared with the entire squad, and it'll be easier to spot them. The resource is used with the new vendor to purchase Follie's parts, and having to compete with squadmates for them added more friction to an already-frustrating game mode. Inky Walls will be harmless as well, dealing no damage or causing knockdowns.
The changes also include adjustments to lighting and new waypoints directing players to canvas, making it easier to find the necessary objectives. This means less time spent wandering around, though you're still particularly vulnerable (and slow) in Operator/Drifter mode for a huge chunk of the mission.
Follie's Hunt forces the player into powerlessness, being chased by an invincible shadow of Follie that drains their health and energy. Environmental dangers are plentiful and the objectives can be difficult to find. That's intentional, though the initial verdict was that it made for a generally unfun, punishing experience that "encouraged rage quitting," as per Digital Extremes. The fixes could make it more forgiving while still keeping some of the mode's horror-splotched vision, drawing from its prerequisite Chains of Harrow quest.
Warframe's fast-paced, room-deleting action defines the game mode, but the ability to innovate and change the formula is an essential part of its DNA. Follie's Hunt may have been a miss at launch, but Digital Extremes continues to show its prompt responses and attention to player feedback that have been helping Warframe cultivate a loyal following for 13 years.
