How to find Copper in Subnautica 2

Subnautica 2 co-op

Subnautica 2 keeps the franchise's long-standing tradition of sending the player hunting for Copper. This valuable resource is used in most early recipes involving electronics, including the famous scanner.

Luckily, you can find this resource in no time. It's within the vicinity of your lifepod, but you may have gone exploring in different directions before getting here. Plus, the evil electric plant that shocks you isn't exactly inviting.

Here's where to find Copper in Subnautica 2's early game.

The easiest spot to find copper in Subnautica 2 is just below the Lifepod, still in the starting area. Look down to find a cave with an oxygen plant in it, as well as another brain-like structure with a glowing green circle. You'll find a handful of copper deposits on the walls, alongside other handy resources.

The brain-like colony, for instance, is called Acidic Raion, and it contains the other ingredient you need to make Basic Batteries. Cut it with your Survival Multitool, grab the copper, and return to the Lifepod to start crafting gadgets like the Scanner.

While you're at it, grab the Acidic Raion core for a Medical Gel Sac, used to make First-Aid Kits. There's also some Titanium and a Portable Locker in sight.

If you need some air, come back to the Oxygen Tunic to keep exploring. It's actually an animal that uses radiation to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, in case giving you free air wasn't cool enough.

That cave alone should get you set up for your survival Multitool, plus batteries, and a little healing along the way. After you've crafted the Scanner, come back to find one of the parts required for the Flashlight blueprint down here as well.

Subnautica's early-game areas are more generous than the rest of the game, so make sure to grab useful resources here. Not far from the Lifepod, you'll also find an adaptation that lets you eat the planet's dangerous food, and the voice log that comes with it is only half horrifying!
